Armed with our favorite colored pencils, my daughter and I had the pleasure of checking out Escapes Collage Art and Mosaics Books.

Inspired by Art Nouveau posters, Japanese prints, vintage seed packets, and other sources, these 55 illustrations are rendered in a collage style that ranges from dramatic to playful. Meditative and inspiring, each stunning design is printed horizontally and on one side of ivory-colored pages, which are perforated for easy removal and display.

Stars, sunbursts, flowers, and leaves are among these 55 dramatic, highly conceptual images. Each of the figurative and abstract patterns — rendered in the intricate style of mosaic artwork—flows from page to page and is printed horizontally to offer a new spin on coloring. Illustrations are presented on one side of ivory-colored pages, which are perforated for easy removal and display.

What a great way to spend some time together and exercise those creative muscles!

  1. I do, when our kids were young and we were at a family get together my sister in law got out a box of crayons and coloring books, us moms and the kids who wanted to sat at the kitchen table and colored. As we did the conversation became more and more interesting, we laughed we cried we told stories of growing up. Fast forward to our daughter being away at college, she called asking me to send her stash of coloring books and crayons because they were stressing out with finals. Coloring books are great for any age
