This is my last and final post on how we've utilized NuNaturals Sweetners in our diet. Now I'm concentrating on snacks. Yummy!
If you are like me, you are concerned with all the junky, pre-packaged snacks on the market. There's nothing worse than filling our growing children up with white sugars, high fructose corn syrup, artificial dyes and the list goes on.
I like to have some snacks pre made and on hand before the 'hungries' hit. Here's a few of what we've made using NuNaturals products.
First recipe is Flourless Peanut Butter Cookies (thank you to Theresa of Theresa's Mixed Nuts)
This recipe has just four ingredients: peanut butter, Tagatose, an egg, and baking soda. So incredibly easy and tasty!
What is Tagatose?
Tagatose is a naturally-occurring sweetener found in milk, fruits and vegetables. It's lactose free, will not raise blood sugar levels, low calorie (6 calories/serving), low Glycemic index, and low in carbohydrates. Additionally it contains a prebiotic ingredient that helps feed probiotic bacteria that benefits the digestive tract.
One side note - Tagatose may have a laxative effect .... consume responsibly!
Substitute an equal amount of Tagatose in place of white sugar in your cookie, applesauce and fruit leather recipes!
Easy Spritz cookies with Tagatose!
Applesauce with Tagatose in place of honey
Make fabulous fruit leathers using the leftover applesauce in a dehydrator ....
Next up is NuNaturals Cherry Flavored Stevia with plain yogurt. Say goodbye to excess calories, sugars and junk. Pick the brand of plain yogurt you prefer, spoon into a bowl and add 1/2 - 1 dropper full of the liquid Stevia, stir and enjoy.
What's so special about NuStevia products?
"Our NuStevia products are 100% Natural, and DO NOT contain Aspartame, Saccharin, Sucralose, high-fructose corn syrup, Sugar, or any kind of artificial sweeteners/colors. They have "0" calories and are consistent in QUALITY that you expect from NuNaturals! Our products are not altered or produced through genetic engineering. Stevia is derived from sustainable agriculture assisting in making a healthy Earth."
And finally smoothies! Who doesn't love smoothies? Normally we add a banana to our smoothies for natural sweetness, but, what do you do if you don't have one available? You could add sugar, but, that would take away the health benefits. You could add honey if you have it, but, why not try LoHan Supreme?
What is Lo Han?
"Lo Han Guo is the extract of a very sweet fruit. The perennial vine is native to the Guangxi province in southern China where the mountains of Guilin in this region provide the ideal growing enivonment, allowing it to thrive in warm, shaded mist. Lo Han Guo's sweetness comes primarily from its mogrosides (a group of terpene glycosides) that are approximately 250 times sweeter by weight than sucrose. This extract has zero calories and zero glycemic impact so it is safe for diabetics and hypoglycemics to use. 10 drops are about as sweet as 1 tsp of sugar."
This one is best made in individual batches until you discover the right sweetness. Since everyone has different taste buds, I would say start with 1/2 dropper full and add as desired from there!
